Private equity in Africa has grown significantly over the past decade, with dedicated Africa-focused funds raised by pan-African managers as well as international GPs establishing Africa-focused vehicles. The typical fund structure uses a Mauritius or Cayman General Partner with a South African or Kenyan co-investment vehicle, reflecting the treaty network and regulatory environment.
